Built exclusively to cater to the sailing community, Portorosa should definitely be in your travel plans. Here, you’ll be able to experience the true Sicilian countryside while enjoying the most modern facilities and the best services

General Info
The Sicilian coast is the link to the Aeolian Islands and, as veterans will tell you, it’s one of the most beautiful places you can sail a boat in the Mediterranean. In between Tindari and Milazzo on the coast leading to the Aeolian Islands you’ll find Portorosa, an exclusive resort, dedicated to those who enjoy sailing and generally everything about boats.

Travel & Arrival
Like most of the cities in Sicily, Portorosa can be reached by air thanks to the Airport Catania which is accessible to travelers via the A18 motorway or the A20. Take the exit Falcone to reach your destination from Reggio Calabria.

The highway A20 Messina-Palerma helps any tourist get here by car. Again, you should take the Falcone exit in order to reach your destination. Train travel is also possible via the train station in Furnari or Barcellona PG.

And since the marina is the main center for attracting guests, arriving here in a boat will probably be the easiest mode of transportation. The coordinates are 38° 07' 60" N, 15° 06' 72" E.

Avant & Apres Sail
The location is situated in a huge green area, an idyllic countryside, the likes of which you'll only see in Italy. The roads leading here run by the coast, providing the crew with some wonderful sights of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

As far as landmarks go, you’ll probably have to take your family to neighboring towns like Milazzo, Sicily or Catania, but the town does provide you with an intimate atmosphere and a rugged countryside. Still, there are some touristic itineraries available, like the Aeolian Greek Theater in Tindari, Taormina or a trip to Mount Etna.

The Portorosa village does however provide sailors with all the necessities of modern life. There is a commercial enter, restaurants, piano bars, pool, clubs and even tennis courts.

The restaurants here specialize in Sicilian food, but also in typical Italian dishes, such as pasta, pizza and a wide assortment of fish recipes combined with whatever the local countryside has to offer. Any curious sailor that has a wide palette will certainly enjoy eating here. And to top it off, some of the best Italian wines are served with every meal to complete your Mediterranean experience.

The nightlife resumes to the local venues situated in the close vicinity of the marina. These cater to both the younger crowds looking for a night of fun (clubs), but also to those seeking a quiet time in the company of friends (piano bars).

Events & Actions
You’ll never be too far from a boat while in Portorosa, regardless if you’re a seasoned seawolf or a novice. Whether it’s sailing, watersports or just lounging by the sea, you’ll need a boat to get the full Portorosa experience.

On land, the local hotels provide visitors with tennis courts and guided tours for those looking to see more of the hills covered in pine woods surrounding the marina.
