Location & Approach
Set on the beautiful island of Tenerife, Puerto Colon (28º04,7' N 16º44,2' W) is one of the main marinas on the south shore, facing the Atlantic Ocean, in between Playa de Fanabe to the south and the Playa de las Americas to the north. The distances between these two are just over a kilometer so it’s an easy walk to either of the beaches.
The coastline here isn’t fragmented at all and the waters get deep very fast after leaving the shore. boats will find it easy navigating around Tenerife’s southern tip and entering the marina which has a big breakwater protecting the mooring area and a northerly entry point.
Infrastructure & Ambience The breakwater and the pier of the Puerto Colon marina are continued by a small harbor and the marina facilities. Next to that there is a small but clean beach where you enjoy the beautiful scenery and the lovely waters around the Canary Islands. There is also an esplanade and a pier where you and your friends can go strolling in the evening. These are located further north of the marina itself and shouldn’t be confused with the breakwater and the entrance.
When it comes to infrastructure, the 355 berth marina comes equipped with a travel lift, electricity, drinking water and a pump station. There are additional services such as rescue and medical assistance available for the guests.
Outside the marina, the sailor will find lots of chic restaurants, bars and boutiques, not to mention plenty of parking, bank offices and even supermarkets for resupply. For a lovely view, you can always climb the neighboring mountains inland.
Puerto Colon caters to the neighboring resorts of Los America, San Eugenio, Torviscus and Fanabe and that’s why you’ll find lots of local boats moored here as well as various tourists. You might want to try the whale watching trips between Tenerife and the Island of Gomera that leave Puerto Colon in catamarans. You could also practice lots of water sports as the marina has extensive facilities serving its customers.
