Those who managed to satisfy all the strict requirements for entering the marina is likely to stay here for a while. Radisson Marina Anse Marcel is quite a special spot on the map of the Leewards.
Location & Approach If you ever decide to go sailing in the Caribbean Sea, then there’s no better place to start than on the island of Saint Martin, with its exclusive marina Radisson at Anse Marcel, an oddly shaped bay and resort in the northern part of the island. Nonetheless, the community will enjoy the exclusive atmosphere and the quality services.
The odd thing about the bay at Anse Marcel is the fact that the entrance to the marina in located in a channel that extends further inland around the Radisson St. Martin Resort. 9m wide and 3m deep, it’s not the most accessible place for a marina and requires a lot of attention from the skipper, not to mention that it significantly reduces the size of the yachts that can moor here.
Once you cross the narrow channel, you enter the marina which is thus very well protected from any kinds of sea current or dangerous winds. The coordinates for the marina are 18º07’N, 63º02’W and in order to get assistance with berthing, you should contact the marina offices on VHF radio channel 16, daily between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Once you moor, an English and French-speaking staff await you and your crew.
Infrastructure & Ambience The local infrastructure affords a limited number of slips available, just 150, that can be moored by boats that have a maximum length of 27m. That’s enough for most clients but a select few, with larger boats, might want to search for other places to moor.
Once you have settled in, you can hook up your boat to the water and electricity (110 or 220V) connections present on each pier, both of which are metered. There are additional services, such as ice bags (a must in tropical weather), restrooms (separate for men and women), showers, laundry, a weather report service and fax and internet access.
Though not the cheapest place in the Caribbean, the Radisson marina prides itself with high quality services. However, sailors used to fees in Europe and the Mediterranean, might find this place a little bit expensive.
The marina also offers recreational services such as fishing boats, scuba diving gear, boats for hire and water transfers (to and from the airport). Outside the marina, the visitor can find a supermarket for provisioning, a car rental company, a taxi service, ATMs and banks, shops and a number of restaurants.
