Marina Port La Royale - Marigot’s Biggest Marina

Goodly size and respectable service – the Marina Port La Royale is worth visiting in every way.

Location & Approach
It’s common knowledge that sailing is a cherished activity in the Caribbean and especially in Saint Martin, where the Port  La Royale marina is located. The in the beautiful Bay of Marigot, the marina caters to many tourists.

In fact, in some respect, the Saint Martin yachting community is the same as the one in Monaco, and the marina is the one that brought the capital city of Saint Martin into the 20th century when it was built in the 80s along with the famous shopping center. Today, the marina is still the unofficial town center along with the promenade, but you’re likely to see more than just crowds.

The circular architecture of the marina can be seen in the Baie of Marigot, flanked by the Baie de la Potence to the northeast and the Baie Nettle to the southwest. The coordinates for the marina are 18° 3.57' N63° 5.47' W, and it’s easily spotted due to its unusual shape with piers in the shape of sun rays around a hexagonal center pier.

Infrastructure & Ambience
The largest marina on the island, Port La Royale can accommodate 100 vessels that fall in the 60m maximum length and the 3m maximum draft requirements. As these are generous numbers, most boats anchored here won’t run into any problems.

The services offered by the marina include drinking water and electricity connects for each berth, waste disposal service, toilets and showers, which will covers your basic needs. Of course, there are some additional features such as a repair shop, a laundry service and numerous bars and restaurants in the neighborhood.

Being located in the French of the island, the marina does borrow some of the class of a Riviera resort, with the cafes and snazzy restaurants that might seem a bit overpriced for some   crews when compared with other Caribbean location.

Shopping is also a favorite pastime here so make sure you bring your credit cards because you aren’t leaving until you pick up a few souvenirs. When you’re done shopping for clothes or perfume, stop by the fruit and vegetable market on the waterfront which is held every Saturday to stock up your boat.
