The marina Club Maritimo San Antonio de la Playa is situated on the Playa de Palma, just a few kilometres away from the international airport of Palma. You will hardly find a more direct way to your charter yacht!
Location & Approach Though the name is quite a mouthful, the Club Maritimo San Antonio de la Playa is a well known destination for the regulars that choose Mallorca as a sailing point for their vacation. Just a stone throw from Palma de Mallorca, the marina boasts a lovely stretch of the waterfront, some very nice beaches and a large number of berths that proves insufficient nonetheless during the summer months.
The only bad thing about this marina is the fact that it’s fairly close to the Palma airport (800m) which means there is some noise pollution when planes take off or land, but it doesn’t seem to bother the hoards that fill up the marina each year. The reason why the marina is so popular is due to its inexpensive berth and shipyard rates. Even during the winter, the marina has many guests that choose to moor their boats here for the off season.
The marina is located east of the city of Palma, on the northeastern shore of the bay, with a position perpendicular to the coastline, so as to offer better protection from the waves for the vessels. The coordinates for the marina are 39º32’0"N and 02º43’0"E, with two breakwaters, one towards the southwest and one closing in the gap from the east.
Though situated in a shallow region that allows for maximum draft of 5m, the approach to the marina is fairly easy, with no major underwater dangers and only in western, southeastern or southwestern strong winds is there a problem with entering the marina. The waterfront here is packed full of bars and restaurants all the way into Palma, creating a virtual “tourist belt”, kilometers long, perfect for large crowds of aficionados.
Infrastructure & Ambience The marina numbers 396 berths, which is a decent number for the Mediterranean, perfect for boats up to 18m in length and a maximum draft of 5m. For every berth, there are water and electricity connections (both 220V and 380V connections are available). There is a large, well- equipped boatyard where the skipper can perform. Mechanical and painting services and be found here, as well as carpentry, electronics, electrical, welding and fiber glass repairs. Important for the guests is the petrol station which doesn’t get as crowded as the one in the harbor.
Stocking and provisioning can be done at any of the supermarkets lining the waterfront while the marina also has a laundry service, toilets and hot water showers for its clients. The rest of your sailing needs will be covered by the facilities in or around the marina, as the position affords it access to many other venues such as shops, restaurants and bars. This is yet another reasons why the Club Maritimo San Antonio de la Playa is so popular among the crowds.
