Location & Approach This marina can be found in the seaport town of San Stefano al Mare which lies on the continental shore of Italy, near the border with France, known to locals and regulars as the Ligurian coast. The marina itself is located 600m from the town which gives any visitor easy access to a number of facilities.
The marina is protected by a breakwater 800m long that is directed east by northeast and a smaller pier directed south by southeast. The seabed here is generally sandy and there are generally moderate winds blowing from the east, from towards the Italian peninsula, but that doesn’t make entry too difficult for skippers since the entry is facing east.
Infrastructure & Ambience This is by no means a small marina at 974 berths, each with its own water and power supply, with depths ranging from 2 to 7m and capable of holding boats 7 to 26m in length. Marina degli Aregai also gives access to guests to a number of other facilities such as a 100t travel lift, a ramp and slipway, surveillance, a filing station, sewage collection and showers. There’s also a weather forecast service and 24 hours a day radio monitoring on channel VHF 9 to assist you with mooring.
Along the waterfront there are mechanical, electronic and sail shops in case you want to perform any repairs on your boat, bars, restaurants and even a car park. Unlike some of the other marinas, there are extensive facilities found at this location, such as a hair stylist, a beautician, launderette, a gym and even a bakery. This is also where you’ll find the headquarters of the Yacht Club degli Aregai, which can provide you with further assistance or information.
The size of the marina and its location means that Marina degli Aregai is one of the most important in these parts of the Mediterranean, which in turn means that there are several sailing events held here throughout the year, some local and some international.
