For the citizens of the European Union a valid identity card is sufficient to enter Spain and no visa is mandatory for a stay of up to 90 days.

The most airlines offer charter and scheduled flights to the Spanish mainland as well as the Balearic and the Canary Islands. There are several direct flights a day to Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Teneriffa from the most European capitals. The most frequent air conncections to Spain are offered by Iberia as well as by some popular no-frills airlines such as Airberlin, Ryanair and Easyjet.

To charter a boat in Spain you have to possess an appropriate certificate of competence that is mandatory in your home country. The maximum allowed cruising speed within the ports and the shore belt (250 m) is 5 knots. Navigating in bathing areas is prohibited!

Spanish (Castellano) is the official language in all regions except of Catalonia (Barcelona) and the Balearic Islands. In these areas, Catalan has been reintroduced as the official language after the fall of the Franco dictatorship. English and German are understood and spoken in most tourist centres. The timezone in Spain is from November till February: CET (UTC + 1), from March till October: CEST (UTC + 2).

The local currency is the Euro. All popular credit cards are accepted in Spain, as in all EU member countries. There is a dense net of cashpoints for EC and credit cards.
