Island Elba Marciana Marina
Elba is the third largest island in Italy
The island’s steep granite crests are rising into the sky up to 1,000 metres so that they can be easily spotted by the approaching charter yachts. The island is absolutely the right place for those who spend their holidays on sea, as there are numerous bays that can only be reached by boat. Those who like it quite lonely will have a good time all around the island‘s southern end and in its western part. It is, after all, a 150 kilometres long coastline that has to be sailed up if you want to have seen everything. The population of the island consists of various immigrant groups coming from the mainland and from Corsica. Most people would probably first of all associate Elba with a small French man – Napoleon Bonaparte, of course. In 1812, as he came back from his disastrous Russian campaign, he was forced to abdicate the throne of France. Afterwards, he was exiled to Elba where he stayed for 300 days. Then, he was overwhelmed by his fighting spirit again.
