Aerial view of the Maldives
Nearly everyone have once in his life dreamed about a holiday on the Maldives. Yachties chartering here have already fulfilled this dream. Tourists getting here by ship or plane initially arrive in Malé city and travel then to the particular island by a small plane or a speedboat. The Maldives are, in a manner of speaking, an 800 kilometres long natural monument created by workaholic corals which can grow high and habe learned to expand horizontally, too, since they have perfect conditions for growing here (above all, the warm water which have a temperature of more than 23 degrees Celsius). Nevertheless, having reached a certain size, they begin to silt up in the middle of the reef and become barren. Exactly at this point, a lagoon is emerging. Due to a certain water pressure and currents it can reach a depth of 60 metres. The dimensions of particular atolls may vary greatly. The Suvadiva Atoll in the South of the Maldives is one of the largest atolls on Earth. The capital Malé situated on the island of the same name and housing 70,000 residents is nearly bulging.
