Seychelles

Seychelles is a splendid place for sailboat travelling

Seychelles are a group of islands counting 115 granite islands and coral formations. They are situated in the western part of the Indian Ocean, about 1600 km to the west from Kenia. Altogether, the islands have an area of just 450 square kilometres. They are devided into two parts – the inner islands around the main island Mahe and the outer islands, which also include 24 coral islands. Aldabra is one of the outer islands known for its coral formation, which is the biggest in the world. Cousteau once said, Aldabra was the most beautiful spot on Earth. The average air temperature does not fall under the mark of 25 degrees Celsius. Because of the tropic climate, many plants are getting extremely high, such as the famous huge palms “Coco de Mer”. Even the animals become bigger and bigger, such as the unique huge turtles on the island Curiese. La Digue Seychelles

La Digue Seychelles

La Digue is an island of the Seychelles

The sand beaches of the neighbouring islands La Digue have become famous through Bacardi commercials. The whole sailing area of the Seychelles is attractive all over the year. Usually, the wind is blowing slightly. It is a bit tougher with North or South monsoon; however, it can seldom get dangerous in the waters of the Seychells, because the region is situated apart from the so called storm and cyclone belt. Basically, this sailing area with mild weather conditions is perfect for beginners. There are many attractive bays that let you plan short cruising routes.
