Santa Eularia - Ibiza's Festival and Culinary Capital
Santa Eularia is less exciting than Ibiza Town, but has a large and trim marina and is thus a popular starting point for the few charter firms on Ibiza.
General Info
If Ibiza Town is the largest city in Ibiza and San Antonio is the second, then Santa Eularia is the third in size and it’s located on the eastern side of the island. Smaller than Ibiza Town and quieter than San Antonio, Santa Eularia has been dubbed the perfect family Yacht Charter resort.
Apart from that, the town is also considered the island’s gastronomic and cultural center, making it the perfect place to visit if you want to get a taste and feel of the Catalan lifestyle. That’s why Santa Eularia is the home to the best fiestas and the best restaurants you can find in Ibiza. On top of that, Yacht Charter guests will be pleasantly surprised of the lack of crowds during the high season.
Travel & Arrival
Another bonus for Santa Eularia is the fact that it’s located just 30 minutes from Eivissa Airport. Daily flights land here from Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia and Alicante during the off season, while in the summer time almost every major airline makes a point out of landing a plane here, so it’s easy to catch a flight from any major city in Europe.
From the airport, the Yacht Charter holidaymaker can rent a car, catch a bus or a taxi back into town. The distances are short which means you won’t spend much time and money getting to your accommodation.
From the Spanish mainland and from the neighboring Balearic islands, there are ferries running on a daily basis, especially in summer when the number of Yacht Charter tourists increases dramatically. Some of the towns where you can catch a boat to Santa Eularia are Palma de Mallorca, Formentera, Barcelona, Denia and Valencia.
Avant & Apres Sail
The town has managed to reinvent itself through sustained efforts from the authorities and through massive investments from the locals. What that translated to is a Yacht Charter resort that is welcoming and brand new, especially around the marina and seafront Promenade, a region that was actually reclaimed from the sea.
That being said, there are some historical landmarks which prove popular with the Yacht Charter crowds, such as the old Roman bridge on the west exit of the town, the 16th century church of Our Lady of Jesus and the Puig de Massa (Hill of Mass).
Though Santa Eularia is not meant to be a clubber’s paradise, it does have some very interesting shops along its main streets and near the marina. Here, the Yacht Charter shoppers can find designer sunglasses, clothes, lingerie, toys, gifts, ceramics, wines, pastry products, plus a world of shoes. Hours of fun for any shopping addict, regardless if you’re really taking something home or just browsing.
As mentioned, this town is known as the culinary capital of Ibiza so eating out here is truly an experience. Most restaurants can be found along the promenade, enticing the Yacht Charter passers-by with cool locations and exotic dishes from the Spanish cuisine, Catalan and international.
When the night comes, you won’t see any of the noisy clubs like in Ibiza Town or San Antonio, but you will find a lot of British pubs. There are also some very nice bars in the marina, not to mention street cafes lining the main street, popular both with the locals and with the Yacht Charter visitors.
Events & Actions
Santa Eularia is famous among the Balearics for its fiestas, but the biggest is the Santa Eularia Fiesta held in the first Sunday of May, commemorating the day when a church collapsed during mass without injuring a single person inside. To commemorate this, locals parade the streets with flower displays and floats, accompanied by traditional music while dressed up in national costumes, a real spectacle for any visiting Yacht Charter party.
