Port Pin Rolland - The Cote d'Azur off the Beaten Track
This is one of those places that are kept secret by people who come here every year because they don’t want to spoil its beauty. Port Pin Rolland is where you can enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean without putting up with endless crowds of noisy tourists even during the high season.
General Info
This small settlement can be found by the Bay of Toulon at the foot of the Cepet peninsula. Although its position is on the Cote d’Azur, this region is not known to many and is mainly made up of fishing villages, like the neighboring Saint-Madriner-Sur Mer. The biggest town of the region is La Seyne-sur-Mer which is located on the mainland. However, Port Pin Rolland is known among Yacht Charter circles as a good sailing destination.
Travel & Arrival
The closest airport you can use to travel to Port Pin Rolland is Marseile Airport (114 km away) or Nice-Cote d’Azur (159 km away). The good news is that both handle international flights so regardless of the country the Yacht Charter sailor comes from, there’s bound to be a flight. The only problem will be getting from the airport to town.
Road access to the peninsula is made via the D18 road which links to the A50 highway further north by means of the D559 road. Yacht Charter groups travelling here can hire a car at the airport or in the city. It is advisable that you have a car when coming up here as the distances are too long to be traveled on foot.
But the way most people get to this small fishing town is by boat, that’s why you’ll find a modern marina with lots of boats moored in its berths during the Yacht Charter tourist season.
Avant & Apres Sail
What Port Pin Rolland lacks in land activities and landmarks, it makes up in sailing opportunities. This is the perfect place to visit if you’re looking for a Yacht Charter away from the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera but with the same scenery.
Some of the best kept secrets of the region are the island of Porquerollez and Port Cross with their natural reserves that should make for an interesting trip for any Yacht Charter group due to the beautiful scenery and relative remoteness of the location.
Events & Actions
The main occupations of people here are fishing, farming and repairing ships, so if you’re looking for a nice night on the mainland, you’re better off travelling into one of the neighboring cities like La Seyne-sur-Mer or Toulon which is on the opposite side of the bay, and thus easily accessible by sea in a Yacht Charter boat.
The other fun activity while here in Port Pin Rolland is sunbathing. Whether on the deck of your Yacht Charter boat or on the beach, you should get a perfect Mediterranean tan. When you get bored of that, there is always fishing and diving to entertain you.
