Jezera - A Small Port on Murter island
Set in a beautiful and unspoilt natural location, the small port of Jezera offers peace and relaxation to those who seek it in the blue waters of the North Adriatic. Nature parks, fishing, secluded beaches and night parties are the things that await you in Jezera.

General Info
Yet another port town on the island of Murter, the biggest one in the Sibenik archipelago, off Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast, Jezera has nonetheless its particular charm that makes Yacht Charter tourists return here year after year.

Its location is on the southeastern shore of the island, 3km to the south of Tisno, the entry point to the island, where the 30m drawbridge connects it with mainland Croatia. It sits nestled in a small bay which justifies the existence of a marina and the Yacht Charter crews who come here in search of a quiet holiday.

Travel & Arrival
Much like the small town of Betina, flying to this location will require you to book a flight to Zadar airport, which is the closest international air hub, some 70km further north up the coast. There are no direct transfers as the popularity of Murter island among Yacht Charter tourists hasn’t reached its full potential, but you will be able to catch a connecting bus or a taxi.

Drivers will have to follow the E65 European road which merges with the Croatian A1 highway only to break off for important locations along the coast such as Biograd, Sukosan or Muter island. Alternatively, there is another less frequented road, the number 8 road, which runs parallel to the coastline, which leads directly to the junction with Tisno. The E65 and the 8 road are connected by the smaller, 59 road, so really, a Yacht Charter driver could take either one regardless if they’re coming from the north or south.

Avant & Apres Sail
The horseshoe-shaped bay where Jezera is located is surrounded on all sides by hills offering lovely views of the entire marina and further out to sea. That also confers significant protection from the winds and the elements for the Yacht Charter boats in the marina, which explains why sailors choose to stop here in their trips along the Dalmatia coast.

The city borrows much of the overall chic of the Croatian coast, with the same clean whitewashed houses and red tiled roofs set offset beautifully by the deep green of the local pines. The water and the beaches are very clean which is why the region got the European Blue Flag award. Jezera hasn’t many attractions outside the natural setting and the remote location, but that’s exactly why Yacht Charter guests choose to comes here.

Nearby you’ll find two national parks, the “Kornati” and “Krka”, both corresponding to islands or archipelagos off the Croatian coast and both havens for lots of plant and animal species, particularly birds. Fishing and sailing are permitted and will surely appeal to Yacht Charter boatmen due to the pristine nature of the location.

For serious shopping, the Yacht Charter traveler will have to go to neighboring big cities like Biograd or Zadar which have a special tourist market, but in Jezera, you will be only be able to pick up fresh produce and some trinkets as souvenirs.

Most of the restaurants can be found along the waterfront or around the marina and since the region is famous for fishing and agriculture, you can be sure that all the items on the menu (particularly seafood and some local Croatian cuisine) will be fresh. Some Italian influences like pizzerias can also be found, if the Yacht Charter enthusiasts is looking for a more international dish.

Nightife consists mainly of beach parties which are organized by the local venues during the summer for Yacht Charter crews. They feature music and drinking until the early hours of the morning. For other forms of entertainment, seek the major resorts along the mainland coast.

Events & Actions
Jezera is mostly a quiet town so there are no big events or festivals to animate the narrow streets. But there are small festivities that are aimed mostly at remembering the ways of old or the fishing heritage of the town (the feast of Assupmtion). Jezera Day, the local town celebration is a mixture of traditions, concerts and street exhibitions. The biggest event here will surely be to the liking of any Yacht Charter sailor worth his salt – the Big Game Fishing international competition taking place off the coast of Murter and Kornati Island.
