Sun Odyssey 409 is an elegant sailing yacht with sharp lines and fine details. Philippe Briand designed its modern hull with a hard chine. This gives stability and it also ensures great speed for an unforgettable experience at sea. The intelligent design of the hull gives more space in the after cabins.
The sail plan is improved which makes this boat not only fast, but also very easy to handle. So whether it’s for club racing purposes or family cruising, Sun Odyssey 409 can definitely do the job.
This sailing yacht has 4 different interior layouts: 2 versions with 2 cabins and 2 versions with 3 cabins. The only difference between the 2-cabin versions is that one of them has two bathrooms and the other one has only one bathroom. Instead of one of the bathrooms, there is additional stowage space in the front cabin plus a desk with chair. There’s the exact same difference between the two layout versions with 3 cabins. This boat can accommodate from 4 to 6 crewmembers.
In 2011, Sun Odyssey 409 was voted ”European Yacht of the Year”. It was nominated by major European magazines from 11 countries.
Highlights of the Sun Odyssey 409:
The cockpit of this yacht is very generous, it can easily accommodate 6 people under sail. The twin wheels contribute a lot to the easy handling along with the fact that all the items necessary for sailing are placed within easy reach. At the back, there is a removable helm seat which opens the transom to the swim platform.
The interior has a contemporary look which is given by the fine materials that were used. This look is enhanced by the natural light which comes in through the many portholes and hatches. The welcoming salon has a comfortable U-shaped dining area with a folding table in the middle. Right aft, there is the galley which is specially equipped for pleasant cooking. On the port side, Sun Odyssey 409 has a settee with chart table right across the dining area. There’s plenty of stowage space on this yacht model, especially in the layout version with 2 cabins and one single bathroom at port side.
