YACHT CHARTER BALEARICS / MALLORCA:
Locations & Ports: Mallorca / Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca / Ca´n Pastilla, Mallorca / Puerto de Alcúdia, Mallorca / Port d´Andratx, Mallorca / Cala d´Or, Ibiza / Eivissa, Ibiza / San Antonio Sea & Coast: The Balearic Islands with the main islands Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza are situated about 100 sm away from the Spanish coast and are the ideal yachting area for yacht charter crews, who are looking for adventures and maritime holidays in the Mediterranean ambience. There are however possibilities to retreat – especially in the law season you can relax on Mallorca, Ibiza or sleepy Menorca in the quite turquoise bays, called „Calas“, without being afraid of meeting a neighbour from home at the next opportunity. One sailing week is enough to sail round the islands as well as to make an excursion to one of the neighbouring islands. Apart from the steep and mountainous western coast of Mallorca, where there is now one safe port (Puerto de Soller), you will find good and even luxurious marinas everywhere along the coasts of the islands. Although you will lie quite safely in the deeply cut Calas, spending a night there will be spoilt by an unpleasant swell. The small island Cabrera to the south-east from Mallorca is worth visiting, especially for divers. However, an entrance permit is obligatory for this nature reserve. The island Formentera, which is famous for its beautiful sand beaches, is parted from Ibiza only by a narrow canal. Winds & Weather: The yachting area of the Balearic Islands has a Mediterranean climate with mild winter and hot summer. The average air temperatures in spring and autumn are between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, and in summer between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius. The water temperatures in spring and autumn are 13 – 20 degrees Celsius, and in the summer months 17 – 25 degrees Celsius. The wind comes mainly from the north direction. In some places a slight sea wind can blow during the day. It can become quite uncomfortable, when the strong Tramontana blows from the north or the Schirokko from the south.
