The Cyclades offer everything that a traveler can seek, if he is hungry for adventure and relaxation – either lonely small islands with idyllic beaches and anchor places or exclusive nightlife of the islands Mykonos and Paros. There are many traces from the ancient times, the most popular is probably the island Santorini. There are many things to discover and the islands are of interest alone because of their important role in the Antiquity. Traveling in the Cyclades Islands you will not have to keep to your plan, as the most islands are situated close to each other, so you will have the possibility to make spontaneous decisions. Sail the Cyclades and learn to live like the Greeks. The Saronian Islands Aegina and the peninsula Methanon, Poros, Hydra and Spetses are located next to Athens. They are very popular and there are many people each year, who move there from Athens in the hope to escape the busy city. These islands are also situated close to the Peloponnesus, where very important excavations as Mycenae and Epidauros are. The islands, which are of great tourist interest, have a beautiful nature, clean sand beaches and nice villages and ruins of glorious times. Winds & Weather: Because of the strong north wind Meltemi, which prevails in the Cyclades mainly in midsummer (especially in July and August) the sailing conditions are quite sporty. This wind can even reach the intensity of storm, especially if cape or jet effects arise. If you prefer smooth sailing, you will have the opportunity during the long season in spring and autumn. In the Saronic Gulf, Meltemi is not as strong as in the Cyclades. It mostly reaches the intensity of 4-5 Beaufort. If Meltemi does not blow, the wind direction is south with the intensity of 2-3 Beaufort. On the eastern coast of the Peloponnese, Meltemi is quite weak, blowing from the north-east or from the south-east direction. In spring and autumn the wind is usually weak in the whole area, coming from the south direction.
