Sea Weather Balearics
The yacht charter region of the Balearic Islands has typical Mediterranean climate with mild winter and hot summer. The average air temperature in spring and autumn is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, in summer between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius. The water temperature in spring and autumn is 13-20 degrees Celsius and in the summer months between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. The wind blows most of all from the northern directions. In some places, there is a light sea wind during the day, which begins to blow onshore between 10 and 12 o’clock and can reach up to 4 Beaufort. It can be quite uncomfortable, when the strong tramontana blows from the north or sirocco from the south.
Starting from the second half of August till the early October, often thunder storms are possible. If the summer storms are accompanied by strong rains, some of the dry valleys in the calas flowing to the sea can become torrents quite quickly.
Should you anchor in unsecured calas or in front of open beaches and the offshore wind becomes stronger, it is better to enter a safe port as quickly as possible.
As everywhere, it is very important to concern the current weather forecast when planning your trip, even if the weather is good and calm.
