One of the most popular areas for yachting and water sports is the area around Vancouver island in the western part of Canada (British Columbia). A huge sailing area with beautiful nature spreads out from Vancouver to Desolation Sound in the north and the San Juan Islands in the south.

Because of the northern situation, the water sports season in Vancouver is much shorter than, for instance, in Central Europe. You should not start your charter holidays in Canada before June. The season normally lasts until the end of September. If you are planning to sail from Vancouver to the San Juan Islands, which belong to the USA, you shall plan sufficient time before your holidays to apply for the US visa, which is necessary to enter the USA.
