Istria Porec

Porec is a resort centre in Istrian County

Looking from above, the Istria peninsula appears a giant triangle tapering towards  the south. The shores, flat in the west and south, become increasingly steeper and higher from the east to the north. One of the most interesting features of the appealing west coast is the Lim canal between Porec and Rovinj. Though it is  barred for pleasure craft, it is famous for its oyster and mussel farming. Entering the port of the fabulous Rovinj which is situated on a small peninsula is a must for all charter tourists. Those who take a trip into the interior should visit one of the numerous vineyards since Istria is noted for its good wines. The east coast is not ideally suitable for yachties as you cannot anchor here because of the steep rocks. However, the town of Opatija has an attractive ACI marina to offer.
