Puerto Calero - The Dream Resort of an Architect
The quintessential resort on Lanzarote island, Puerto Calero lives and breathes sailing, since the marina is the beating heart of this small town around which the whole tourism industry is centered. Exclusive and perfectly set in the natural landscape, Puerto Calero offers an unforgettable Yacht Charter experience.
General Info
Named after the architect who built this resort in 1989, Puerto Calero is located on the southwestern coast of Lanzarote island, part of the Canary archipelago. Centered around a small yet very upmarket marina, this small town is considered by many Yacht Charter regulars as one of the best locations on the Lanzarote island.

From a sailing point of view, the marina has a perfect geographic position, one that affords the maximum protection for mooring yachts from Lanzarote’s prevailing northwestern winds, but also one that offers great views for the staying guests.

Travel & Arrival
Apart from being a beautiful location, Puerto Calero also benefits from being close to Arrecife airport (10 km) and also to the island’s capital (20 km). The airport is the main means of travel for the most yacht charter tourists coming from abroad. It’s has flights from the main European cities as well as Spanish airports.

The other way of arriving on the island is by boat or by ferry. The main cities that have ferries travelling here are from the Balearic Islands from places like Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife or from mainland Spain in Cadiz. The trips range in length from a few hours to a little under 2 days, so Yacht Charter crews can make an idea of how to plan their trip.

Avant & Apres Sail
Most people who’ve been here have stated that Puerto Calero is without a doubt one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful place on Lanzarote island. The exclusive character, the weather and the geographic position make this resort one of those places Yacht Charter only dream about.

Being a relatively new establishment, there isn’t much history to soak up but the city makes up with the new buildings and the exclusive overall feel. The main sightseeing spots are sailing excursions around the island or hunting for beaches along the coast.

There aren’t that many shops in Puerto Calero but you’ll find here the main brand names and some other chic boutiques and souvenir shops you can pick up a trinket or two to remember it by. Yacht Charter crews that are on a budget might find the shopping here rather expensive so make sure you bring your credit card.

Eating out here can be done at one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the marina. There are pizzerias, bistros, wine bars, cafes where you can have a relaxing drink in the middle of the day and hang out with other Yacht Charter holidaymakers.

Sadly, the nightlife isn’t as lively as some of the younger crowds might expect, that is to say, it’s rather inexistent, save for a few bars that stay open until late and the entertainment provided by the local Yacht Charter hotels.

Events & Actions
Don’t think that a trip to Puerto Calero is a boring one. Despite the relaxed attitude of the locals, you can have lots of fun while here. First off, there are a lot of watersports available as well as catamaran trips, submarine excursions, fishing trips (among the best marlin and blue-fin tuna spots in the region) and dive courses for beginners and experts alike.
